Waller ISD Public Information
January is School Board Recognition Month and Waller ISD will join other districts across the state to thank these local leaders for their dedication and willingness to serve as advocates for our children and public schools. As elected officials, they are the voice of their communities, serving first and foremost in the best interest of Texas schoolchildren.
The Waller ISD School Board of Trustees has several key roles and responsibilities. They ensure the creation of a vision and goals for the school district, evaluate school district success, adopt policies that carry out the school district initiatives, hire a superintendent to serve as the chief executive officer of the school district and evaluate the superintendent’s success. They also approve an annual budget consistent with the school district vision and communicate the vision and success to the community.
Waller ISD Superintendent Danny Twardowski said, “I am honored to work with a quality representation of citizens from the Waller community who genuinely care about providing a quality education to each student. Each school board member has a warm heart and honorably represents the Waller ISD motto, All About Kids.”
The Waller ISD School Board of Trustees consists of seven elected community volunteers: President Gary Buchanan - serving on the school board since 2012; Vice President Ronald Campbell - serving on the school board since 2012; Secretary Kim Parmer - serving on the school board since 2009; School Board Trustee David Kaminski - serving on the school board since 1997; School Board Trustee Joe Landin - serving on the school board since 2011; School Board Trustee Bryan Lowe - serving on the school board since 1988; Dr. Michael W. Prince - serving on the school board since 2009.
Serving on a local school board is no easy task, particularly in today’s climate of rapid change and financial uncertainties. These men and women are elected to establish the policies that provide the framework for our public schools. They tackle a difficult job and shoulder enormous responsibilities. Overall, they represent the Waller ISD community and take their leadership roles seriously by attending lengthy meetings, broadening their knowledge at conferences and seminars and talking about the schools with business leaders, parents, and neighbors.
These dedicated elected members work without pay. As a result, each year the Texas Association of School Boards TASB encourages communities to show appreciation to these individuals for their unfailing commitment to the success of all students. TASB’s School Board Appreciation Month theme this year is All-Star Team. The staff and students of Waller ISD applaud the school board members for their vision and voice to help shape a better tomorrow for the students’ benefit. Serving as a crucial link between the community and classroom, the school board is responsible for an annual budget of $71 million, approximately 6,800 students, more than 900 employees, and eight campuses. Please take a moment and tell your School Board members thank you for caring about our children and giving so much to our community! Let them know that you support them and that their dedicated service is recognized and truly appreciated.
We proudly salute our Waller ISD School Board All-Star Team for being all-stars for Waller ISD schools, and for their year-round volunteer commitment. Visit the Waller ISD website at www.wallerisd.net to view a video honoring the Waller ISD All-Star Team.
